  • A Story in Parting

Atus strolled through the door of his office one morning and immediately noticed that his friend and co-worker, Clyde, was not sitting at his desk.  This was unusual because Clyde had been sitting in that desk every morning that Atus walked into work for the past 5 years.

"Where's Clyde?" Atus asked Rodney, another co-worker.

    "Hiatus," Rodney  replied.

"Oh, yes,  hello to you as well Rodney, but where's Clyde?"

    "Hiatus," Rodney again replied.

"Yes, Rodney, it's good to see you too, but I really want to know where Clyde is."

    "Hiatus," Rodney once again replied.

"I don't know what games you are trying to play with me, but I am not in the mood this morning. Now where is Clyde?"

""Hiatus," Rodney said a fourth time.

This went on for a few more minutes, before Atus finally realized what Rodney was saying.  Atus felt a little foolish about not getting the word play sooner, but once he found out he and Rodney were able to share a good laugh and get on the with the day's work.

    ----------------------------------

There really is no point to this story, except to announce that I am going on a hiatus from blogs.  All my social networking sites, Facebook, Myspace, and Xanga.  I have no idea when I will be back to blogging, but I figured I should announce my departure in case anyone got concerned.

Things are going well for me, so there is no reason to be concerned.  This is just a necessary thing for me to do right now.

See you all later, and if you would be so kind, feel free to stop in and feed my pig.

    Farewell Christamore

today was my last day of work, and it was fun.

i was given a large batch of yummy cookies!

i actually convinced a co-worker that i was moving to siberia to herd yak, hee hee.

i played basketball with the day treatment clients.

i played 3 games of chess with co-workers one last time.

when i told one client goodbye, he bawled for about 10 minutes, tears and snot running down his face. wasn't expecting that reaction!

all in all, christamore was a good experience for me. i feel like i did some growing up there, and my eyes were opened to many things.  it's hard to stay at a place like that and be naive for very long.

and now, i am ready to start a new job, using some new skills while still utilizing some of the old.

    and i'm ready

    Not in Vain

moving in is near completion for me. tyler and mike are completely moved in, and all i need to bring is some clothes, some goldfish, and a few odds and ends.

i like the place a lot, despite potentially not being able to hang up my personal van gogh gallery

when we get settled in a bit i am going to put some pictures of the place on here, i think.  i would like to show off our homey living room, as well as our game room.

that's right, you read that correctly, we are going to have a game room.  and i think after you see the pictures of the place, you just might want to come over and watch some house or play some halo..

and you're more than welcome to.

although i am excited about having a room totally devoted to gameries, i certainly don't want that to be the focal point of the coming days in canton.  although our place will be quite the bachelor pad, bachelorhood is certainly not a realm that i want to linger in.

don't get me wrong, i am looking forward to all the free time i am going to have, but i don't want that time to be used exclusively on the collage of vanities often referred to as bachelorhood.  i don't want the results of my time to be summed up by the following statements: "Whew! That was close! I almost spent a moment not being entertained!"

no, i want more than just entertainment, and more than just killing time like it was a nuisance rather than a resource.

people have been telling my my entire life how great of a man i am going to be, and it's time to start taking some real strides towards becoming that man

    Goals

in 36 hours, i will be more or less moved in to my new home, and it hardly seems real.

i have been thinking a lot about the next year of my life, and i have made a number of goals for myself (in no particular order) :

to spend my time and money in a way that reflects the priorities in my life.

to keep a more tidy house than i have in the past (shouldn't be hard )

    to be involved in ministry.

    to stay faithful to God.

    to be happy.

to overcome the selfishness that has permeated my life.

to do well in my classes.

    to lose 30 more pounds.

to think less and feel more.

it's my prayer that next summer i will be able to look at this list of goals and share a smile with God, because i know that without him, the next year would be just a wasted year, and that would be a tragedy indeed

    Update

for those of you who don't know, i here is a more specific update about my life than i have given lately.

latest news, i talked to margo last night via facebook, and i am going to be running an open gym at church a couple nights a week.  i am quite excited about it, margo said i was a real answer to prayer, which made me feel good, since i haven't heard those words in awhile.

my job is at a place called timbuktech, which, by the way, is the worst name for a company ever, hee hee.  anyways, i will be a service manager, and my main responsibilities will be to deal with customers and schedule our techs to go out and fix computers.

oh yeah, forget to mention that. computers. we fix them.  that's what the company does.  and judging by what i have seen thus far, they are quite good at it, and business is booming.

tyler, mike and i got an apartment 4 blocks away from my work.  it's the first floor of a nice 2 story house in a nice neighborhood.  the rent is dirt cheap, and all major appliances are furnished, yay!

more later, but i am thankful to god that things are panning out so perfectly
